Next Generation Robotic Surgery

Flexible Robotic Surgery

Overcoming Barriers and Revolutionizing Minimally Invasive Surgery

Laparoscopic surgery was a major advance from conventional open procedures, but it offered limited access and surgical precision.

  • Robotic surgery improved the precision of laparoscopic procedures, but rigid instrumentation limited its utility.
  • Now, Flexible Robotic Surgery from EndoQuest represents the next major advancement in minimally invasive surgery. The system is designed to enable:
  • New types of procedures that were not possible previously

Advanced flexible instrumentation with up to 7 degrees of freedom and robotic dexterity

Unprecedented surgical access through natural orifices, minimizing trauma and eliminating external scars

  • With this new flexible robotic platform, physicians, healthcare systems, and payors have the potential to save OR and recovery time, reduce costs, and attract more patients.

Flexible Robotic Surgical System Overview

The Flexible Robotic Surgical System is transforming the GI and Surgical landscape. With its unprecedented flexibility, advanced instrumentation and ergonomic design, the system enables endoluminal and single-incision procedures that were never before possible.

Physician Console Patient Cart Flexible Instruments
1

Physician Console

Ergonomically designed, the Physician Console's digital interface mimics the physician's hand movement, with flexible instruments inside the patient that offers unprecedented precision and control throughout the procedure.

2
3

Heads-Up HD Monitor

The High-Definition Monitor provides the physician with exceptional visualization and magnification of the surgical field with comfortable heads-up viewing and a graphic user interface with detailed information for the physician.

4

Hand Controller

Hand Controllers are used to operate the surgical instruments and allow the physician to operate with a natural and fluid movement.

5

Foot Pedals

By pressing the foot pedals, the physician can operate the robotic clutch function, reposition the overtube and videoscope, and control the electrical surgical unit (ESU).

6

Armrest

The physician is able to sit comfortably at the console with their hands in an ergonomic position with their forearms relaxed on the armrests.

7
8

Patient Cart

With excellent mobility and maneuverability, the Patient Cart positions the robotically controlled videoscope and overtube precisely where they are needed for optimal access.

9
10

Instrument/Videoscope

Surgical precision is provided to the physician using two 6mm robotically controlled flexible instruments that allow triangulation and articulation with up to 7 degrees of freedom to provide enhanced dexterity in narrow endoluminal anatomy. Full visualization of the surgical site is provided using a 3.7mm high-definition robotic camera.

11

Overtube

The flexible and steerable Overtube enables access of two Instruments and the Videoscope to the target site, and has additional channels enabling insufflation, irrigation, suction, and access of third-party endoscopic devices.

12

Removable Touchpad

The Removable Touchpad allows the clinical staff to maneuver the Patient Cart while standing at an optimal viewing point for ease of patient docking.

13

Positioning Arm

The Positioning Arm adjusts the height and angle of the Patient Cart to provide optimal access to the patient as well as allow a convenient stow position when not in use.

14

Mobile Base Cart

The mobile base cart allows for ease of procedure set up and for moving from room to room.

15

Instruments

A full range of flexible surgical instruments with up to 7 degrees of freedom mimics the natural movement of the surgeon's hand offering unparalleled precision and control.

16

Multi-Use Technology

Designed to be cost effective and reduce healthcare costs while not compromising performance.

17

7 Degrees of Freedom

Provides advanced flexibility and dexterity.

Future of Flexible Robotic Surgery

The Flexible Robotic Surgical System enables surgery through a variety of natural orifices, allowing physicians to provide truly scar-free surgery for the first time. Additionally, the system enables single-incision surgery, which minimizes the appearance of a scar after surgery. The result is the potential for less trauma, faster healing times, and improved patient outcomes.
